When President Trump couldn’t think of other ways to destroy Barack Obama’s legacy, he turned to destroying Michelle Obama’s instead. Already, he has killed the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 201o, but then went even further and ended the “Let Girls Learn” educational program.
Even Trump seems to know this won’t be popular. He’s bragged about ending everything Obama accomplished, but the White House said nothing about cutting programs that helped children.
Republicans quickly defended Trump’s decisions, especially for putting a stop to the nutritional program. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue’s first action was announcing that he planned to end Michelle Obama’s fight against childhood obesity. Apparently, the entire program should be repealed because Southern children didn’t like the grits served at school. Perdue stated:
“If kids aren’t eating the food, and it’s ending up in the trash, they aren’t getting any nutrition — thus undermining the intent of the program, the whole grain variety [of grits] has little black flakes in it.”
But, true to Michelle’s character, she didn’t attack Trump or the Republicans. Instead, she held her head high and continued to try and make a change:
