According to the New York Times, Steve Bannon reportedly met with a major GOP donor to discuss his post-White House opportunities.
According to the newspaper, the meeting took place in Rebekah Mercer’s office at Cambridge Analytica in New York and focused on possibilities for Bannon if he decides to leave the White House.
Bannon’s departure from the White House appears imminent, as Donald Trump Trump on Tuesday declined to voice his full confidence in Bannon while seemingly downplaying his role in the administration.
“I like Steve, but you have to remember he was not involved in my campaign until very late,” Trump told the New York Post’s Michael Goodwin, after being asked if he still has confidence in Bannon.
“I had already beaten all the senators and all the governors, and I didn’t know Steve. I’m my own strategist and it wasn’t like I was going to change strategies because I was facing crooked Hillary,” he added.
Numerous reports in recent days claimed that Bannon had serious internal disagreements with Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner. Also, Bannon was demoted from his role on the National Security Council.
