The U.S. Secret Service detained a New York today man for stalking and harassing Malia Obama, daughter of former President Obama, at the White House and in New York.
Jair Nilton Cardoso went to the fourth floor of building in Tribeca where Obama, 18, interns on April 10, put a sign in the window and loudly begged her to marry him, sources said.
Two Secret Service agents assigned to her detail kicked him out. Two days later Cardoso, 30, followed Obama out of a building in the West Village where she also interns, sources said.
Secret Service agents stopped him and recognized him as the man who had repeatedly tried to get into the White House in the past, sources said. They told him to go away and leave her alone, sources said.

The next day, Secret Service agents went to Cardoso’s Brooklyn apartment and interviewed him, sources said. They concluded he had psychiatric issues and took him to a Brooklyn hospital for evaluation.
On Tuesday, Secret Service agents came to the First Precinct stationhouse in Lower Manhattan and reported Cardoso, sources said. Cops are mulling whether to file stalking or harassment charges against him.
