JUST IN: Donald Trump Issues Statement About White House Intruder

Donald Trump had some nice words for the Secret Service on Saturday for their efforts to stop an intruder at the White House, saying the agents did a “fantastic job.”

The comment came as Trump was beginning a meeting with Cabinet officials at a golf course he owns about 25 miles outside Washington.

A man wearing a backpack had reportedly scaled a fence at the executive residence late Friday night, and was caught by a Secret Service agent near the south entrance of the White House.

Trump, who was said to have been in the building at the time, called the intruder “a troubled person,” according to a White House pool report.

The White House was placed under high security alert during the incident, and Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly was “kept aware of the situation the entire time,” White House press secretary Sean Spicer said.

Secret Service checked the man’s bag, but reported finding no dangerous materials.
