According to a report in The Wall Street Journal, U.S. intelligence officials have withheld some sensitive intelligence from Donald Trump because of concerns about the information being leaked or compromised.
In some of these cases of withheld information, officials have decided not to show Mr. Trump the sources and methods that the intelligence agencies use to collect information, the current and former officials said. Those sources and methods could include, for instance, the means that an agency uses to spy on a foreign government.
This decision underscores distrust between the intelligence community and the new administration as a result of reports that Trump’s campaign team had active communication with the Russian government.
Additionally, Trump’s contentious words about the intelligence community have reportedly given them pause as well.
Responding to the story, a White House official said: “There is nothing that leads us to believe that this is an accurate account of what is actually happening.”
