Donald Trump’s approval ratings just hit a historic low of 38%, which is surprising since his numbers had already made history for being the lowest of any president in history.
The Quinnipiac University poll released on Wednesday says that only 38% of Americans approve of Trump’s job performance, while 55% disapprove of the commander in chief.
According to Quinnipiac, the 17-point difference in Trump’s approval rating is the worst he’s fared in a poll since taking office in January.
An earlier survey from the pollster this month registered Trump with 42 percent approval and 51 percent disapproval.
Not surprisingly, the latest poll revealed a strong partisan divide in job approval ratings. An 83% majority of Republicans approve of the president, while 91% of Democrats disapprove of his job performance.
Polls of Trump’s approval rating have shown a wide disparity, according to data tracked by RealClearPolitics. Several others polls put the president’s approval rating in the mid-40s, with the conservative-leaning Rasmussen putting his approval rating as high as 51 percent.
