The simple fact of the matter, which is without debate, is that President Donald Trump enjoys traveling and now that he has the luxury of using the government’s facilities he continues to live a lavish lifestyle. The only matter which is debatable is who is paying for Trump’s travel and secondly, how would Trump have responded if a Democrat behaved the same? Trump’s criticism of former President Barack Obama’s frequent golfing trips only highlights his blatant hypocrisy.
The tables have now been turned and Trump is as shameless as he has ever been. For example, according to the Washington Post, Trump has cost the American taxpayer over $10 million on protection in just three weeks:
Trump’s three Mar-a-Lago trips since the inauguration have probably cost the federal treasury about $10 million, based on figures used in an October government report analyzing White House travel, including money for Coast Guard units to patrol the exposed shoreline and other military, security and staffing expenses associated with moving the apparatus of the presidency.
Where are the fiscally conservative Republicans now, bemoaning the exorbitant costs of Trump’s travel? Have they all suddenly forgotten about their oaths to cut costs and shrink the size of government? Or does that only have to do with costs when it relates to Democrats and Republicans are free from criticism? Over and over again, the Republican party exposes itself as individuals not of conviction, but of partisan bickering and this is another fine example.
