Last week President Donald Trump decided his wisest move was going to be to removing the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Director of National Intelligence from his National Security Council meeting. The nation was outraged by this decision and were further disturbed by Trump’s decision to place his top adviser, Steve Bannon, on the council alongside him. Now it has been revealed by the New York Times that Trump may not have even been aware that he was giving Bannon such a prestigious seat. They, in part, wrote:
But for the moment, Mr. Bannon remains the president’s dominant adviser, despite Mr. Trump’s anger that he was not fully briefed on details of the executive order he signed giving his chief strategist a seat on the National Security Council, a greater source of frustration to the president than the fallout from the travel ban.
If this information is true it is incredibly damning for Trump, who has been fighting hard against the perception that he is unfit for office, to prove to the public he is in charge. How can any person who discovers this information that Trump literally signs orders without reading them or knowing their significance place their faith in the way in which he governs? When will the American people open their eyes to the reality of the trap with which they find themselves, and will it happen before it is too late for the nation to turn the problem around?
