Racism and bigotry are unfortunately coming back to American society in a loud and public way. This trend can be observed in the actions of teenage citizens of the United States who learn the behavior from their parents. One high school in Texas had the awful experience of its students giving a Nazi salute during a class picture session.
It was locally reported by KPRC Channel 2 news that at least one student anonymously sent email photographs of at least 70 students giving a Nazi salute. Some of these students were also yelling “Heil Hitler” and “Heil Trump.” The email also stated:
Most people may think it was just kids joking around but in the current political climate and the fact these kids are seniors in high school, it’s beyond unacceptable.
After the story broke another student confirmed this happened via Twitter:
None of the teachers even said anything. They just let them be Nazi boys.
Cypress Ranch Highschool responded to the media’s attention by issuing a short statement:
Several of our students made the poor choice of displaying inappropriate gestures during this time… Unfortunately, many of these images have been shared on social media. This is extremely disappointing as this is not an accurate representation of our student body… We ask that you talk to your students regarding the posting and sharing of negative social media as this perpetuates a false image of Cy Ranch HS.
