The propensity for President Donald Trump to seek retribution against those who he believes have slighted him is not a secret, and Trump himself admits that he enjoys “getting even” with people. This tendency of Trump’s is now spilling over into legal battles regarding his wife, First Lady Melania, and several blogs and publications which the Trump family says slandered Melania’s good name.
A new lawsuit brought forth by Trump’s lawyers makes the outrageous claim that Melania Trump’s reputation has been sullied in the media and therefore she may no longer be able to profit from her name. This is unfortunately a very real lawsuit which, in part, says:
Plaintiff had the unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, as an extremely famous and well-known person…to launch a broad-based commercial brand in multiple product categories, each of which could have garnered multi-million dollar business relationships for a multi-year term during which plaintiff is one of the most photographed women in the world.
To make matters even more ridiculous the lawsuit stated that various publications that had written about Melania in a negative light cost her the ability to profit from her high profile position. She is seeking $150 million in damages. Where did they come up with this number? The guess of the reader is as good as the guess of any other person as the lawsuit offered no evidence to substantiate their claim.
Clearly Trump has no intention on winning the lawsuit, they are merely bringing the suit forth because those who are named will have to defend themselves in court. Trump has more money than most journalists and therefore bringing them to court to waste their time and money is good enough for him.
