There is much to be said about President Donald Trump allowing his daughter, Ivanka Trump, to pursue legislative ends. It has already been heavily reported that Ivanka Trump will be the de facto First Lady, taking the place of Trump’s wife, Melania, in the White House. Now Ivanka is showing her governmental chops by lobbying members of congress to spend 100s of billions in a tax overhaul that would include a child care expense deduction.
According to Forbes.com Ivanka Trump has been holding court with members of both the House of Representatives and the Senate:
Members of the House and Senate met with the president’s eldest daughter in the Roosevelt Room at the White House last week to discuss her proposed child care tax benefit, according to a person with knowledge of the meeting. President Donald Trump said earlier this month that he would soon propose a comprehensive tax overhaul, without offering any details.
However, Trump’s plan is not all daisies and roses. Rich individuals who are able to afford childcare will receive a deduction, but the poorest in society who cannot afford childcare will not receive help in paying for the care. They will merely receive a paltry deduction. What a wonderful thing for a family struggling to make ends meet to receive back $10 at the end of the year when they struggle to put food on the table.
Once again the Trump family has shown where their priorities are, which is to help out all of their rich friends and to condemn the rest of America to the poorhouse.
