President Donald Trump yearns to be viewed by the American people as a strong, capable, fearless leader. However, those traits are often not the best to have or portray when dealing with other nations, and this could not have been more evident after Trump and his team were embarrassed by their military mission failure in Yemen which led to the death of a U.S. NAVY SEAL team member. Now new information has come to light about Trump’s decision-making and why he decided to go forward with the mission. None of it is flattering for the 45th President of the United States.
According to the New York Daily News, the decision to move forward with the plan was partly motivated when Trump learned former President Barack Obama did not ok the same plan. Trump, in an attempt to be stronger than Obama, put the lives of American service members at risk, and one paid the ultimate price. The New York Daily News wrote:
President Trump was convinced to launch a “botched” counterterrorism raid in Yemen after being told that the Obama administration would have never attempted one.
One wonders if Trump had not known Obama passed on the mission, would he have made the same decision? If not, what does that say about Trump and his fitness to be the commander in chief of the entire military? Trump is placing the lives of hundreds of thousands of American service members at risk due to his desire to be petty and settle scores rather than moving the nation forward. One further hopes he sees the error of his ways before it is too late.
