As the 45th President of the United States Donald Trump is also the Commander in Chief of the entire military. Any action which the military takes is ultimately his responsibility and that includes if any American lives are lost because of those decisions. Trump gave his first order to initiate a covert military operation which saw a Navy SEAL lose their life, but where was Trump when this happened?
According to Trump’s press secretary Sean Spicer he was not in the “situation room” which is where the military operations can be observed in the White House:
The president was here in the residence. He was kept in touch with his national security staff. Secretary Mattis and others kept him updated on both the raid and the death of Chief Owens as well as the four other individuals that were injured. So he was kept apprised of the situation.

The operation itself was a complete blunder that saw 23 civilians lose their lives, including 10 children. Navy SEAL William Owns was also killed. One would think Trump would take the time to sit in on his first operation rather than hanging out in his cushy presidential home, but that’s ok according to right wingers. They will excuse any of Trump’s flaws including his obvious lack of commitment to the members of the United States military whose lives he holds in his hands.
