The individuals who President Donald Trump has chosen to surround himself with is nothing short of embarrassing. In a further embarrassment to himself Trump’s pick for Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos, was barely confirmed by the United States Senate. In fact her confirmation vote was the lowest of all time at 50 for her and 50 against her. Vice President Mike Pence was forced to weigh in on DeVos’s confirmation and broke the tie with his power of being President of the Senate. Now that DeVos has won her nomination fight the world has become keenly aware why she was selected because the Republican Party just put forth a bill to completely dismantle the Department of Education.

The bill was brought forward by a Republican Congressman named Thomas Massie, from Kentucky, who simply wishes to terminate the entire department and place the responsibility of education back into the hands of individual states. Massie said:

Unelected bureaucrats in Washington, D.C. should not be in charge of our children’s intellectual and moral development. States and local communities are best positioned to shape curricula that meet the needs of their students.

DeVos becoming the next Secretary of Education places her in a position to help Massie, and help herself. DeVos and her family of billionaires have donated $100s of millions to Republican legislators to influence legislation regarding schools, as the DeVos family owns a variety of private and charter schools. If the Department of Education is dismantled it would literally put million of dollars into the pockets of the DeVos family.
