During the history of the United States of America tens of thousands of individuals have died to defend the ideals they so strongly believed in. Such service is the foundation of fidelity in serving one’s fellow citizens. One of America’s most famous casualties of war is former NFL star Pat Tillman who enlisted in the military after the attacks on 9/11 that saw the twin towers in New York City collapse. However, the loving wife which Tillman left behind after he made the ultimate sacrifice says the policies of President Donald Trump are not what her husband fought and died to protect.
Marie Tillman took to Facebook to share her outrage towards Trump and his insane policies of banning Muslims from entering the United States. She, in part, wrote:
Today I am deeply saddened by the news of the executive order banning immigration. This is not the country he dreamed of, not what he served for and not what he died for. Since his death I have embarked on the most meaningful work of my life, supporting the men and women who, like Pat, fight for what this country can be. As I read posts from the community of #Tillman Scholars on my Facebook feed I am encouraged; they are exactly as I knew they would be, poised and ready to fight. I am proud of them and proud to stand with them, we’ve got this.
The comment by Tillman is but one of millions that have been flying with a flurry against Trump’s bigotry. One can assume that the climate in the United States is going to grow even darker and insidious before the light at the end of the tunnel can be seen, and all who are members of the resistance must stand fast.
