The resiliency of President-elect Donald Trump to dodge scandals has been something of awe and wonder. When a secret recording of Trump was released during the campaign, it showed Trump bragging about sexually assaulting women by grabbing them “by the pus*y.” Amazingly, Trump was able to weather this without losing his political livelihood. However, a different Republican attempted to do the same thing and found himself in police custody.
A Republican man from Greenwich, Christopher von Keyserling, 71, was arrested by police after an altercation with what Keyserling described as “nothing but a bloodsucking lazy union employee.” Apparently Keyserling is a member of Greenwich’s Representative Town Meeting. The altercation began as a conversation where Keyserling is alleged to have said, “I love this new world, I no longer have to be politically correct.” He was speaking to a 57-year-old colleague who felt threatened by Keyserling’s comments and when she attempted to walk away from him he grabbed her by the groin. Keyserling was then alleged to have said, “It would be your word against mine and nobody will believe you.”
A police report was filed against Keyserling and he was later taken into police custody. He was charged with fourth-degree sexual assault. He was able to post a bond of $2,500 and was ordered to appear in court on Jan. 25th.
This entire incident is to be blamed on Trump and his public behavior of disrespect towards women. As Trump’s brand of despicable politics spreads once he is inaugurated this type of altercation will likely only increase. That is shameful.
