Donald Trump being elected as the next President of the United States has caused a reverberation through the media, and they simply cannot get enough of him. Celebrities up and down the line also, seemingly without control, cannot help themselves from speaking about Trump. However, when one of the biggest television personalities in the world was asked about Trump, they stopped reporters and said they were not interested in playing their game.
Legendary television host Oprah Winfrey was outside of CBS studios signing autographs when she was asked why Trump made her “nervous.” Winfrey was not going to play the reporter’s game and she snapped back, “I’m smart enough not to comment on that. I didn’t do 38,000 interviews to get stuck with that one.” The reporter insisted and Winfrey solidified her original position:
No, no, no, no, no, no. Not out here in the middle of signing autographs. I don’t want to be in the Twitterverse, honey. Keep me out of it.
Winfrey has not always been mum on the subject of Trump. In November she said, “I just saw President-elect Trump with President Obama in the White House and it gave me hope. To hear President-elect Trump say that he had respect for President Obama, it felt that he had reached a moment where he was actually humbled by that experience. Everybody can take a deep breath now.”
The paparazzi’s attempts failed, and Winfrey proved herself to be far too seasoned to give them a quote which could be used against her.
