President Obama is getting out of dodge!
Obama and first lady Michelle Obama plan to leave Washington, D.C., directly after Donald Trump is inaugurated as president on Jan. 20, White House press secretary Josh Earnest announced on Monday.
After taking part in the ceremonies, the first couple will take one final flight on Air Force One out of Washington instead of traveling to their new rental home located roughly 2 miles from the White House.
Earnest did not reveal the first couple’s destination or say how long they would remain out of town.
The Obamas plan to live in Washington for at least two years while their youngest daughter, Sasha, finishes high school.
The president has pledged to take his wife on vacation after leaving office, saying, “What I do know is, is that I have to take Michelle on vacation.”
