The cabinet picks of President Donald Trump have fallen under severe scrutiny ever since they were announced. In particular Trump’s selection of billionaire Betsy DeVos has received ire due to her complete lack of qualification for the job. DeVos and her family have donated $100s of millions toward Republican candidates and causes, which is why many believe she received the appointment in the first place. Now DeVos is facing another hurdle before she can be confirmed for the position which she bought and paid for.
DeVos has been accused by Democratic Senators Bernie Sanders, Tom Udall, Sherrod Brown, and Edward J. Markley of breaking election law in Ohio by donating too much money. On top of their accusations they also demand that DeVos pay a steep fine of $5.3 million for her infraction. Considering her family’s deep pockets the fine is no more than a mere pittance.
Senior Advisor to the Democratic Coalition, Scott Dworkin, tweeted the letter:

Devos has made no secret that she and her family donate money not out of the goodness of their hearts, but that they are expecting something in return. She said:
I have decided, however, to stop taking offense at the suggestion that we are buying influence. Now I simply concede the point. They are right. We do expect something in return.
It is no wonder she was picked by Trump, as she is as despicable a figure as he!
