President-elect Donald Trump has shown the world what to expect from his presidency after he appointed openly racist publisher Steve Bannon to be his senior White House adviser. Bannon has a long history of degrading women, which is likely why he and Trump get along like peas and carrots. An audio recording of Bannon speaking candidly about women has been making the rounds, and it is not flattering, but quite telling about the man Trump has made his new number one.
Bannon, who is the head honcho at the conservative “Breitbart” website, called progressive women a “bunch of dykes” while on a radio program giving an interview:
You know, that’s why there are the unintended consequences of the women’s liberation movement. That, in fact, the women that would lead this country would be pro-family, they would have husbands, they would love their children. They wouldn’t be a bunch of dykes that came from the Seven Sisters schools up in New England. That drives the left insane and that’s why they hate these women.
The comment is as horrifying as it is laughable. For Bannon to assert that female progressive as lesbians shows the true scope of his understanding of the American political landscape. There are more female voters than men. Women attend higher education at a greater rate than men do as well. This obviously troubles Bannon who has a clear issue with females who disagree with his political sensibilities, and this perspective wouldn’t be a problem except he will now have an office in the White House and direct contact with the next president on a daily basis.
