Back in 1964 when President Lyndon B. Johnson was running against Barry Goldwater, he produced one of the most famous campaign ads of all time, “Daisy”. The ad reminded Americans of the threat of nuclear war, and obviously, LBJ went on to win that election. (Side note, Donald Trump is often referred to as the modern Barry Goldwater.)
Now Hillary Clinton has released a new ad, featuring the woman who famously appeared as the child in “Daisy”, who slams Donald Trump for his remarks on nuclear weapons.
In the ad, Monique Corzilius Luiz says, “This is me in 1964. The fear of nuclear that we had as children, I never thought that our children would have to deal with that again.”
Luiz continues, while describing Trump’s “really scary” stance on nuclear weaponry. The new “Daisy” ad is expected to air during nightly newscasts in Arizona, Florida, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
Here is the new ad (the original LBJ ad in under the current ad).
