The 2016 presidential campaign has taken numerous twists and turns but a new precedent has been set when Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump suggested that he and Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton should be forced to take a drug test before the two meet for their final debate in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Trump said during a rally in New Hampshire:
Athletes, they make them take a drug test, right. I think we should take a drug test prior to the debate. Why don’t we do that? We should take a drug test, prior, because I don’t know what’s going on with her, but at the beginning of her last debate, she was all pumped up at the beginning, and at the end it was like, ‘Oh, take me down.’ She could barely reach her car.
The suggestion by Trump is bizarre considering his known history of taking drugs to put pep in his step. In the 1990s numerous individuals observed and spoke out about Trump taking diet pills, to keep down his weight, but the pills were basically legal crystal meth. So if anyone knows something about taking drugs to enhance their stamina during a debate it would certainly be Trump.
The likelihood of either candidate taking a drug test prior to the debate is next to nothing. The suggestion is merely an empty suggestion by Trump to draw attention away from all of the problems of his campaign.
