The final presidential debate concluded between Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump with a dark cloud hanging over the event after Trump stated he would not automatically accept the results of the election if he were to lose. Such a statement has never been made before in the history of American presidential politics, and the far majority of reasonable people in the public were rightly outraged at this statement. However, Sarah Palin came charging out of her cave to defend Trump that what he was was completely reasonable.
Palin was in Las Vegas to witness the debate and took to Facebook to blather out rant that is equal to the word salads Trump is known to create. She bellowed:
Seems silly media sheep are all chomping down on one issue after this debate, at least according to all the reporters who hollered out this same question to me: “What about Trump not accepting the election results?”
More power to Trump for explaining how vitally important the legitimacy of every election is to our democracy within our Republic.
What reasonable person would preemptively accept any and all hypothetical questions and conditions of any hypothetical election? Trump’s answer was RIGHT.
Naturally Palin would agree with Trump, as she believes in the same form of backwards politics as he does. One of fear, division, and hateful rhetoric. Palin is a washed up political figure without a career left of which to speak, and as such she is desperate for any attention she can draw to herself. Palin went on to say:
Every American’s sacred vote MUST be respected and legitimized in today’s elections – but they must be FAIR elections. We’re in the midst of proof of voter fraud and questionable – even violent – participatory elements in campaigns. That’s why state legislators are now cracking down on voter fraud via tighter laws ensuring the security of our elections.
When Trump is pressed on this, it harkens back to all the GOP primary candidates who screamed at Trump to support the Republican nominee – no matter what – and Trump initially responded that he could, depending on fair treatment. That is WISE and INSIGHTFUL! Trump got screwed in that deal when he eventually pledged to support the nominee and then some of his fellow candidates turned tail and refused to reciprocate when Trump won.
Trump’s statements were outrageous. There is no excuse or mental contortion one could reasonably make to justify not accepting the will of the America people, but neither Trump or Palin are reasonable people and their alignment of this issue is no surprise.
