Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has made it known that he does not have many individuals, if any, who he would consider to be a close friend. Trump acknowledges that he has acquaintances, but that he can go years at a time without speaking to them. One individual who may have come close to being considered a Trump friend and confidant, someone who was inside Trump’s inner circle for years has decided to come out swinging against Trump and his vile rhetoric after the public became aware of a secret audio recording from 2005 where Trump bragged about sexually assaulting women.
Howard Stern, the shock jock host and lord of all media, had Trump on his show numerous times over the years where the two talked about every topic under the sun. Business, women, children, marriage, infidelity, etc. You name it, they talked about it and no subject was too taboo. However, now Stern is changing his tune about Trump — which surely says something if the most offensive man on the radio was offended by Trump’s comments.
Stern said in response to Trump’s excuse that bragging about sexually assaulting women was “locker room talk”:
I have never been in the room when someone has said, ‘Grab them by the pussy.’ No one’s ever advocated going that step where you get a little bit, ‘Hey I’m going to invade someone’s space.
Stern also said he knew what he was doing when he crafted his interviews with Trump over the years, knowing that Trump would say something crass and outlandish:
I fully knew what I was doing when I interviewed Trump. I knew I had a guy who loved to talk about sex. I had a guy who loved to evaluate women on a scale of 1 to 10. These are avenues I went down because I knew it would entertain the audience.
Will Trump and Stern be friends in the morning? If Trump’s history of lashing out at those who say anything remotely perceived as negative against him, the good money is on Stern being off of Trump’s Christmas Card list.
