Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has made many enemies during his bizarre odyssey for the Oval Office. He has been repudiated in the press by nearly every single reputable publication in print, and after word spread of his disgusting comments about being pleased with himself for getting away with sexually assaulting women that list only continues to grow. However, to Trump’s credit, his family has continued to stand by him no matter what allegations were laid at his feet. Now it seems that is no longer the case and Trump’s eldest daughter is breaking her silence about her father’s lewd and likely criminal comments.
During an interview with Fast Company Ivanka Trump sat down to describe what he life has been like since her father started running for president. She said, “I mean, it’s been a year and a half of enormous scrutiny, of my family, every business, every movement, action. But I think that, you know, that sort of comes with the territory. And I think I’ve probably learned a lot through it and I’ve probably grown a bit tougher in terms of my resilience toward what is thrown our way because, you know, I’ve read some very negative stuff.”
Ivanka seems to be rolling with the punches, though, and said, “I learned a long time ago that I can’t control the opinions of others or what they project on me. All I can do is live my life, and I’ve tried to do that,”
All is not rainbows and daisies in the Trump family. She openly acknowledged she was upset with her father’s comments about sexually assaulting women:
My father’s comments were clearly inappropriate and offensive and I’m glad that he acknowledged this fact with an immediate apology to my family and the American people.
It wasn’t clear to the Trump campaign that his comments were inappropriate, and Ivanka’s willingness to acknowledge such may indicate a schism within the Trump family. Only time will tell.
