The Wall Street Journal just exclusively reported that it could take weeks to scour through approximately 650,000 emails contained on Anthony Weiner’s laptop.
The enormous amount of data means it will take agents until well past the election to learn if any emails contain classified information, leaving Clinton with the prospect of facing an ongoing investigation if she is elected president. Making the situation worse, the FBI still has not obtained the proper warrant to search for emails for classified information, despite knowing the emails existed back in September.
Clinton campaign press secretary Brian Fallon responded almost immediately to the news, writing on Twitter that the information in the Wall Street Journal report came from a “misleading” leak. “These are misleading leaks from the FBI and it is shameless.”
