The list of Hollywood celebrities lining up to stand against the candidacy of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has just grown one larger after Olivia Wilde announced she will not be supporting Trump. Wilde’s announcement comes not only for herself, but for her fears for her unborn daughter. Given Trump’s unapologetic hatred of women which has been clearly documented for numerous decades, Wilde is certainly justified in her fear of growing up in a world were Trump is in power.
Wilde took to Twitter to voice her dissatisfaction with Trump. She tweeted, “As someone who is about to have a daughter, this hits me deep in my core. #NeverTrump” Wilde also linked to a video posted by Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, where Clinton laid out the numerous times Trump has made ugly, hateful, misogynistic comments about women. For example Trump was once asked during an interview if treated with women with respect, to which he replied with a smile, “I can’t say that either.”
One wonders about those of the fairer sex who are vowing to vote for Trump and the ballot box in November, as they clearly do not have an interest in self-preservation and are happy with the idea of living in a world where their elected leader views them as second class citizens. If Trump slithers his way into office, those individuals can rest easy at night with the knowledge that their dream of a dystopia will surely come to fruition.
