In December of last year Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump released an absolutely absurd letter which listed his health in glowing terms stating, “If elected, Mr. Trump, I can state unequivocally, will be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency.” Many believed the letter was likely written by Trump himself it was so full of bombast, but now the doctor who wrote it is breaking his silence. What the doctor has to say, however, is not what the Trump campaign will want to be known publicly.
The individual in question, Dr. Harold Bornstein, has allegedly been Trump’s personal physician for 35-years. Bornstein says he wrote the letter and stands by it. In an interview with NBC Borenstein said, “His health is excellent, especially his mental health.”
That point is surely debatable, but Bornstein let the beans slip about the circumstances surrounding how the letter to which he affixed his name was written. Borenstein said, according to NBC.com, he was asked to write a letter and he let the slow wheels of his mind grind around all day before sitting down and actually writing it. By the time he did, however, Trump’s limousine was sitting outside of Borenstein’s office and Borenstein had no choice but to write the letter in five minutes, not even stopping to proof-read.
A doctor who is able to be impartial is crucial to the doctor’s ability to be honest. Borenstein claims no such impartiality, and in fact says he likes Donald Trump. While Bornstein did not endorse Trump, he did say, “I like Donald Trump because I think he likes me.
