Trump to speak to right-wing religious hate group

GOP Presidential nominee Donald Trump, who professes to equally love both the old and new testament, will be speaking to 700 evangelical leaders at a conference funded by the American Family Association (AFA).

The AFA is a tried and true anti-gay propaganda group that is working in conjunction with the American Renewal Project (ARP). The event is aptly titled, “Rediscovering God in America”, which perfectly parallels the myopic slogan Trump’s blathers about making “America great again.” As is the case for all of these organizations, their vision of America is one of white, racist, sexist, hateful individuals who prefer to place women, minorities, and LGBT individuals back in the shadows where they believe they belong.

Trump claims he would be “a real” LGBT-friendly president, and yet he continually seeks the approval of extreme right-wing religious organizations who are true enemies of anyone who believes individual adults have a right to love and marry who they please in America.

David Lane runs ARP and is a particularly despicable individual. He recently said, “Homosexual totalitarianism is out of the closet, the militants are trying herd Christians there. But what about the religious liberty of Christian photographers, Christian bakers, Christian retreat centers, and pastors who believe same-sex intercourse and marriage is sin? These Christians were simply living out their deeply held convictions of their Christian faith when they politely refused to provide services for a same-sex wedding. Doesn’t the First Amendment give us all a right to our beliefs?”

If one can follow such hateful gibberish they are among the electorate Trump seeks to shamefully court. The embarrassing debacle will likely bring more of Trump’s hateful following to the public’s attention and we will follow this story as it develops.
