Trump stirs the pot on immigration with racist rhetoric

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump presented his most recent plans to attack what he believes is the bane of American existence; illegal immigration. Trump’s plans are absurd and impossible to implement, but that hasn’t stopped his supporters from crowing at the mountain tops about the genius of their savior.

Trump gave a speech in Des Monines, Iowa with bales of hay stacked behind him to give the impression he is a member of the proletariat. During the speech Trump attempted to back peddle on his harsh immigration promises which he made over the course of his presidential run. Trump said, “If we don’t enforce visa expiration dates, then we have an open border. It’s as simple as that. Every time an African-American citizen, or any citizen, loses their job to an illegal immigrant, the rights of that American citizen have been violated. Equal protection under the law must include the consistent application of our immigration laws.”

The faux-billionaire went on to attempt to scare his supporters with thoughts of drug dealers running rampant in the streets, “These international gangs and cartels will be a thing of the past. Their reign of terror will be over. In this task, we will always err on the side of protecting the American people. We will use immigration law to prevent crimes, and will not wait until some innocent American has been harmed or killed before taking action.”

Trump’s rhetoric has softened in his attempt to improve his falling polling numbers, but his points remain the same. White Americans should be fearful of anyone who doesn’t look like they do, or believe as they do. Trump’s campaign of fear and division has carried him thus far, but he is running out of time and voters are running out of patience.
