Trump says Clinton Foundation a ‘criminal enterprise’ but he donated $110k to them anyway

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has continued to beat the drum that Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton is running a “vast criminal enterprise”, particularly when she was Secretary of State. Trump says Clinton was doing favors for individuals in a “pay for play” who donated large sums of money to The Clinton Foundation. During a rally in New Hampshire Trump said, “What is being uncovered now is one of the most shocking political scandals in American history. A secretary of state sold her office to corporations and foreign governments, betraying the public trust.”

The hole in Trump’s rhetoric, however, is Trump has personally donated large sums of money to Clinton’s foundation in the past. If she is such a criminal, he is party to the vast conspiracy as well.

Since coming to the nation’s attention by winning the Republican primary, Trump’s past has been examined with a fine-toothed comb. The Washington Post has been leading the charge against TrumpĀ and found The Donald J. Trump Foundation gave two large gifts to Clinton’s foundation on consecutive years of 2009 and 2010. In 2009 Trump donated made a $100,000 cash donation, and in 2010 Trump bought a table at a fundraiser for the foundation to the tune of $10,000. It is important to note that The Trump Foundation is not funded by The Donald’s personal fortune, but he makes the final decision on where the foundation’s money is spent. Apparently, he thought a donation to a “vast criminal enterprise” was a good idea several years ago, and has now changed his tune to score cheap political points.
