A disgusting coward named David Becker who sexually assaulted two unconscious female classmates will not be going to prison for his crimes and has instead received two years probation, much to the outrage of individuals across the nation.
The decision came from District Court Judge Thomas Estes in Palmer District Court who made the decision that Becker’s case would be “continued without a finding” for two years. Becker was essentially found guilty, but the verdict will not be levied if Becker stays drug and alcohol-free, and does not get into trouble for the next two years. If he follows the court’s requirements he will have paid his debt fully to society. Becker’s lawyer, Thomas Rooke, said, “He can now look forward to a productive life without being burdened with the stigma of having to register as a sex offender. The goal of this sentence was not to impede this individual from graduating high school and to go to the next step of his life, which is a college experience.”
Burdened with the stigma of registering as a sex offender? What about his victims who now have to live with being raped at a party? The two victims stated they were in a room with Becker, and were merely talking before the pair of females fell asleep. They were roused to find Becker was assaulting them both. Beck admitted and apologized in text messages the following day telling the females to not “worry about it.”
Why is the worry about the perpetrator and rather than the victims? The future of a rapist is apparently worth more to the Judge Estes. Justice is supposed to be blind and all individuals have the right to a fair trial, but a judge should never be blind to the lifetime of fear and pain the two victims will carry with them for the rest of their lives.
