Donald Trump is making American history, but not in a way which he should brag; Trump’s refusing to release his tax returns and sitting Republican members of congress are starting to call him out.
On CNN’s “The Situation Room” GOP Congressman Sean Duffy of Wisconsin told Wolf Blitzer, “I think he should release his taxes. I think he should. I think Hillary Clinton should also release her emails. She should also release the donors to the Clinton Foundation. I think transparency in government is the best.”
The comments from Duffy, a staunch conservative, are seen as spiteful towards Trump considering Duffy originally was supporting Marco Rubio’s presidential bid before switching his endorsement to Trump.
Duffy was not one sided against Trump’s reluctance as he also declared his desire to read the contents of Hillary Clinton’s much beguiled Wall Street speeches which were a hot button issue while she batted Sen. Bernie Sanders for the Democratic nomination. Duffy clarified:
We deserve all the information about these candidates that we can get our hands on to make an educated vote in November.
Trump has repeatedly stated he does plan to release his taxes, but only when the IRS has completed their audit against him. Trump tweeted, “In interview I told @AP that my taxes are under routine audit and I would release my tax returns when audit is complete, not after election!”
Trump claims releasing his taxes before the audit is completed would be detrimental to his audit, but IRS officials say there is nothing illegal about Trump releasing his information whenever he chooses to do so.
