Conservative television watchers were incensed when Fox News host Shepard Smith dared to tell the truth about ridiculous voter identification laws, one of which was recently shut down by the Supreme Court.
While reading the news Smith received the breaking news of the Supreme Court’s decision not to allow North Carolina to reinstate their archaic voter ID laws in time for the November election. Smiths said, “North Carolina had put in one of those ‘You have to show an ID’ rules which so often in Republican states are designed to keep some minorities from being able to vote, and they tried to reduce the number of voting days. The US Supreme Court says that will not happen.”
Smith’s comment was common sense, and evidence has shown voter ID laws do nothing to prevent voter fraud, because the concept of voter fraud hardly exists. In the United States voter fraud is not an epidemic, and the concept is merely used to scare the public into believing it is true. Out of 100s of millions of votes there were less than 100 cases of voter fraud in the entire United States, and the majority of cases involved individuals attempting to vote twice at different polling stations. To top the matter off, most of the individuals caught were voting for Republicans and not Democrats.
None of this matters to conservative viewers of Fox News who attacked Smith viciously. See some of their classy tweets below:
